ADHESION AND APPLICATION
Silicone acid sealant 881 has excellent adhesion without using a primer to most non-porous siliceous materials: glass, tile, ceramics, enamel, tile, Dutch brick; impregnated, varnished or painted wood and some types of plastic.
Users can also conduct their own experiments thanks to the variety of materials. In some cases, the adhesion quality can be improved by pretreating the surface with a primer.
Suitable for the construction of aquariums that meet the requirements of DIN 32 622. The thickness of the sealant must be at least 1 mm. During vulcanization, the temperature should be from +15 to +40 ° C. It is used for sealing joints subjected to high mechanical stress; joints that need to quickly provide mechanical strength. It is suitable for use in glass works and for industrial applications, as well as for the construction of silos and containers.
PREPARATION FOR USE
The surfaces on which the sealant will subsequently be applied must be clean, dry and free of any loose materials, dust, dirt, rust, oil or other contaminants. If necessary, clean non-porous surfaces with a solvent and wipe with a clean cotton cloth. Remove the solvent with a clean, dry cloth before it evaporates.
RESTRICTIONS OF USE
Silicone acid sealant 881 is not recommended to be used with marble, concrete, fibrous cement and mortar, since during vulcanization the product releases acetic acid.
It is not recommended to use with metals such as lead, copper, brass or zinc, as corrosion occurs.Silicone acid sealant 881 may discolor when in contact with other elastomers, for example EPDM, ARTK and neoprene.
It is not recommended to use silicone acid sealant 881 with natural stone: marble, granite and quartzite, as this causes staining.
It is not recommended to use this sealant for joints in structural glazing.
SECURITY
During vulcanization, acetic acid is released. It is not recommended to inhale these vapors for a long time or at their high concentration. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure good ventilation of the workplace. If the non-vulcanized silicone sealant gets into the eyes or mucous membranes, they must be thoroughly rinsed with water to avoid irritation.
