Building binders are natural or artificial substances that have the ability to transition from a liquid or dough–like state to a stone-like state, while providing adhesion to other materials.
Binders can be:
1) Inorganic (mineral)
• Air binders (harden only in air)
• Hydraulic binders (harden in air and water)
2) Organic
• They have a resin structure, soften and melt when heated
